Solid State Drives (SSD) upgrades greatly increase the performance speed and reliability of your PC / Laptop. When moving big files, HDDs can copy 30 to 150 MB per second (MB/s), while NVMe SSDs perform the same action at speeds of 7,500+ MB/s.

M.2 SATA Solid State Drives were the next evolution of the Solid State Drive, but still run under the older SATA bus speeds. M.2 SATA speeds are compariable to 2.5" SATA SSD's at around 550MB per Second. The main difference is their appearance and the drive power/data connection.

M.2 NMVe Solid State Drive look very similar to the older M.2 SATA SSD's, although run considerably faster. NVMe SSDs run on the PCIe bus arcutecture rathar than the slower SATA bus. NVMe drives come in Gen3 and Gen4 variants. Newer motherboards support the faster Gen4 SSD's and can achive speeds of 7,500MB+ per second.
